PRESCHOOLERS

(Ages 2 1/2 to pre-Kindergarten)

We have three preschool-aged classes: One class is predominantly 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years of age, one class is mainly 3 to 4 years of age, and one class is mainly 4 to 5 years of age. During the school years, each of these classes uses the following curriculum to provide engaging activities and experiences for your child…

The Little Treasures Curriculum

Our curriculum is the same one used in the Haysville Public Schools. It is full of early math, science, and literacy. We also focus on social studies and process art activities. Your child will have fun learning about the letters of the alphabet and their sounds in ways that are meaningful to them! We supplement this curriculum with Hand Writing Without Tears. We love to coordinate a variety of activities with our Little Treasures themes-cooking, science experiments, fun dramatic play-those are just a few of the fun ways we learn.

Handwriting Without Tears

This curriculum uses music, chalk and chalkboards, magnet boards, wooden pieces, and Playdough (among other things) to strengthen your child’s fine motor skills and prepare them for a lifetime of writing. Learning to write is no longer a chore-and is enjoyed by all children, no matter what level they are at.

Conscious Discipline

The early years are when we learn the most about how to get along with others. We spend MOST of our time on that, in fact! Conscious Discipline helps us learn how to maintain our composure with breathing techniques. It helps us learn empathy through “I Love You Rituals.” It helps us learn to solve problems through books and music. This is not only a curriculum for our children, but for our staff and parents as well. Conscious Discipline is the backbone of what our center is about-and helps us to remember we are all in this together!

Outside Centers

We love to be outdoors in our big backyard, and when the weather is nice, that is exactly where you will find us. It is not uncommon for us to move our center time into the great outdoors. Painting, building, experimenting, singing, dancing, reading, or playing group games are all activities you might find us involved in while outside.

Field Trips!

We love to go on field trips. Some of our favorite outings include:

  • The Pumpkin Patch in October

  • The Zoo in April

  • The Wichita Children’s Theater

  • Summer Kids Movies in Derby

  • The Haysville Splash Pad

  • Exploration Place
